Cookin’ In The Kettles - Fort Ebey Race
This was a great pre-season race! I had a great time camping, racing, and taking some shots of the experts. I’ve got my photos posted over at the photo blog.
Photos from Cookin’ In The Kettles!
Unfotunately - for the racers - April 6th means a choice between “Horning’s Hustle” over by Hillsboro, OR and “Seatac Shuffle” down at SST. Hope to see you out there!

It’s official, according to Steven’s officials there’s a lift park going up at the local mountain pass. Currently the park is pending Forest Service approval which is pending until May 2009. For the latest updates check this thread on MTBR.
You can read all about the plans in the Stevens Pass development summer plan.
No commentsBurton Adventure Park Progress
We had some great help from Americorp volunteers to clear more of the scotch broom from the fields at the BARC. The Burton Adventure Recreation Park is expanding to incorporate a jump park, pump track, and skills course.
After today’s work party most of the disc golf course is cleared. Sensitive areas are marked for the tractor which will hopefully arrive sometime soon to clear a majority of the noxious plant life from the plot. This will leave us with a large number of yound doug firs, pines, and madronas to place around the park.
Getting involved in the work parties is a great way to meet new people, get involved, learn something new, and break a sweat. We’ve been pitching in snacks, drinks, and now a fire pit! Tools are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own.
If you’re interested in riding on the island, this is a great place to get started. Making progressive moves here in this parks will help raise the park district’s awareness of the local biking community and pave the way for more recreation opportunities. Stay tuned for the next party dates (probably in January).
Happy holidays!

If you’re looking for a great group ride close to Vashon hop on the Southworth ferry and join Monkey Mike (kitsapmtb.com). Thanks for the mention Mike!
They have a great trail system through Banner Forest that they spend a lot of time maintaining. Weekly night rides on Thursdays are scheduled and occasional other rides - see the site’s blog or BBTC calendar.
No commentsBurton Work Party Saturday 12/08/2007
We’re headed down to the Burton Adventure Recreation Park to continue the clearing of scotch broom from the site. This will help the tractors come in to clear the scotch broom without damaging any park features - including the jumps.
The more of us that show, the faster we’ll have a site to plan the new jump park and pump track planned for the site.
When: Saturday 12/08/2007 @ 9:00AM
Where: Burton Adventure Recreation Park (Skate park) at Vashon Hwy SW & SW 228th St
What: Work party to clear the site
Why: Site of the future jump park, pump track, and skills course
Bring: Gloves, water, warm clothes, a snack
Some snacks will be provided. Stay as long as you’d like. The land trust and parks department are providing tools including loppers and weed wrenches.
